2019 Home Brew Competition Rules

This competition is open to all styles including mead and cider. Judging will be to BJCP standards using the 2015 style guidelines.

  • Submissions accepted from April 15, 2019 and closes on May 17, 2019. No entries will be accepted after that date.
  • Drop off locations are MoreBeer-1506 Columbia Avenue, Riverside and Coachella Valley Brewing Company-30640 Gunther Street, Thousand Palms, CA 92276 . and La Quinta Brewing Company. SHIPPED ENTRIES should be sent to Coachella Valley Brewing Company.
  • As this is a fundraiser for Animal Rescue Friends (ARF) of Idyllwild, a single entry is $15. Multiple entries are $10 each. All proceeds will directly benefit homeless dogs and cats in the mountain communities of Idyllwild.
  • Three 12 ounce bottles per style, BJCP labels attached by rubber band only. Light color crown caps and no other markings on the bottles. Organizers are not responsible for broken bottles due to poor packaging. Entries not meeting the above criteria will be disqualified from judging. BJCP recipe sheet and entry fee (cash, money order, or cashiers check) to be placed IN THE BOX WITH THE ENTRIES.   • Only entries with a score of 30 points or higher will be considered for an award. Best in Show and winners in each category will receive awards. Best in Show winner will also receive a prize donated by Morebeer-Riverside. Score sheets/awards will be mailed to brewers not in attendance at the festival.
  • Judging will be on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at La Quinta Brewing Company. Judging is closed to all except judges, stewards, and assigned volunteers. Winners will be announced at the Paws for Rhythm and Brews Craft Beer Festival on June 1, 2019 in Idyllwild, CA. Winners will also be posted on the event web site following the festival.  Winners need not be present.
